October is upon us and since I haven't written a post for this series in a while, I though this would be the perfect time. I just finished decorating my front door area for fall and wanted to share it with you guys. This is one of my favorite times of the year, and I love making my front entrance welcoming with all the pretty flowers and pumpkins this season brings. I enjoy decorating this area and putting it together each year. It's one of the little things in life that brings me great joy. This past summer, the outside of our home was kind of stark-looking, with only one lonely plant on the front step. As much as it bothered me to see it that way, I didn't see the point in buying flowers since we weren't home much and there was no one to water them. Now that we are back from London and the weather has cooled off, I couldn't wait to bring home some fall flowers to decorate.
I went to Home Depot the other day, and they must have just gotten a new shipment of flowers in — the selection of mums was amazing! They were so fresh, big and full, it was hard to decide between them all. Each one I looked at was prettier than the next. I'm usually drawn to the yellow, red and burnt orange ones because I think they look best with the overall color and style of my house. I choose two big and two smaller mums, one in red and one in yellow of each size.
I also bought a few different sized pumpkins to place around the mums on the front step of my house. I love mixing mums or other fall flowers with pumpkins to achieve the perfect seasonal arrangement. I have a very large basket of birch branches that I keep on the front step year round, and they look great with just about anything I put out there. I think they are so beautiful, unique and add an interesting element to all my seasonal decorations. I get compliments on them all the time!
My small investment in these the mums and pumpkins really paid off. My front door is Autumn-ready, beautiful and more welcoming than it's been in months. It's little things like this that make me happy and bring a smile to my face every time I come home. The only problem now is keeping the hungry squirrels from attacking my pumpkins... Any suggestions on how to do that are more than welcome!
I'm wearing this super comfortable sweatshirt that I received for my birthday from my daughter. She knows I like to be cozy, comfortable and stylish when the weather cools off. This sweatshirt is the perfect top to wear on a casual day at home or running errands, all season long. The colors scream fall and so it was the obvious choice to wear for these pictures!
